Before: stop retinoids five to seven days before, and tell your doctor if you have taken isotretinoin, or have a cold sore or skin infection. After: no make-up for 24 hours, gentle cleanser only, no active ingredients for five to seven days, sunscreen daily, and avoid saunas, swimming and heavy exercise for 48 hours.
